Back Next St. Paul's Church, Eagle, Alaska

17 May 2000:  We didn't go up on the hill to get a better view of St. Peter's.

I can only  guess that the church has a magnificent view of the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers.

Harpers Ferry is best known as the site of abolitionist John Brown's raid on the arsenal, hoping to capture
weapons to arm a slave uprising in the South.  Brown and his men holed up in a fire house which was stormed by
federal troops under the command of Robert E. Lee.  Brown was captured, tried for treason, convicted and hanged.

Harpers Ferry changed hands eight times during the Civil War.
