Gutzon Borglum directed a crew of 400 workers from 1927 until 1941 in the sculpting of this massive memorial to Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The project cost only one million dollars. Think what it would cost now.
