Longwood Gardens was once the country estate of Pierre Samuel du Pont (1870-1954). Pierre was a great-grandson of Eleuthère Irénée du Pont, founder of the Du Pont chemical company. It is located three miles northwest of Kennet Square, Pennsylvania, at the junction of US 1 and Pennsylvania 52. These photos were taken on May 21, 2000, a foggy, misty, sometimes rainy day.
