Cabinet War Rooms

This entrance to Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms did not exist during the years of World War II. Instead people entered via "Staircase 15" inside what is now the Treasury Building.

The Churchill Museum opened in January, 2005, but photographs are not allowed in that wonderful museum. You must go there, if you are in London, and see it for yourself.

As you can see, the war rooms were not very far underground, but were protected by steel girders and a thick concrete slab.
