CuttySark Next | Cutty Sark |
It seems as if the Cutty Sark got its name from an old Scottish legend and Robert Burns' poem about Tam O'Shanter, his horse Maggie, and a coven of witches he came across one night. The figurehead represents the youngest and prettiest of the witches, Nannie, who was wearing only a petticoat called a "cutty sark" and came away from the encounter with Maggie's tail during the escape of Tam. |
