This residence was owned by Amede "Mitty" Besette, an early Bannack pioneer, vigilante, stockman, and onetime owner of the Bank Exchange Saloon and Meade Hotel. "Mitty" lived here until his death in 1919. He was one of Bannack's last surviving founders.
