Black Sand Basin is a short distance west of Old Faithful and is considered to be part of the Upper Geyser Basin. In many visits to Yellowstone over a period of 40 years I had not stopped at Black Sand Basin. Then, in 1994, I decided to check it out and was astonished at its beauty.
