My notes say this is a "Purple-Top Tiger Cowrie" (Cypraea tigris). The edge between the purple top and the mottled bottom is smooth to the touch and does not feel as if has been polished to show an underlying layer. Does anyone know if the there is such a subspecies of the Tiger Cowrie?
